Our Mission Statement:
The mission of the Beledi Dance Company is to perform world-class Middle Eastern belly dancing
for audiences of all ages and to share the elegance, joy and culture of this ancient yet modern art form.
Established in 1976, the Beledi Dance Company performs belly dancing, cabaret and folkloric dances of the Middle East
to appreciative audiences of all ages throughout Greater New England. In Egypt the word Beledi (bell’-a-dee) means ‘of the people.’
Artistic Director and Founder Kanina has been greatly influenced by the Arabic, Turkish and Armenian traditions and has studied and performed at the master level – including in Cairo and Istanbul – during her accomplished 40-year career.
The Beledi Dance Company performs an array of colorful, artistic dances, representing the many facets of Middle Eastern culture.
